Angus's Garden

Tranquil garden established in 1956 on a working farm to commemorate a son killed in Cyprus while serving...

Angus's Garden was created out of a mother's love for her son, Angus Macdonald killed in Cyprus in 1956. The garden was started the following year in 1957. Betty Macdonald's wish was for the creation of a spring flowering garden within a natural woodland setting and for it to be a place of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Located a short walk from Barguillean Farm, the garden covers approximately nine acres and has been planted with many varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas, as well as other flowering shrubs and trees.

The informal path network, created over the years by family and friends have been developed further and there are now 3 colour-coded walks for varying abilities - click the map to see a larger version.

Although primarily spring flowering (March - June), the garden is worth visiting at any time of the year. The garden is open to the public all year from 9.00am till dusk and is part of the Glorious Gardens of Argyll group and Scotland's Garden Scheme.
