"Good Holiday but property let down"

2 of 5 stars

To start with property is location is very good, secluded but easily reachable to local town. Saw bad reviews about this property but thought they would be in good order but to some extent we were wrong. Had loads of issues with the property. 1. Fridge doesn't work. so had to use next door fridge which is owners property :( 2. Vacuum cleaner doesn't work, so manual sweeping :( 3. Pool table, just for show off. No way anyone can play on that pool table. 4. carpet ends have nails coming out very dangerous when you have kids around. 5. We had two big gas cylinders both got empty in just two days but i think they were not full, because the next small cylinder came for all most 3 days. 6. jack and jill bathroom the door from bedroom doesn't lock at all. 7. Tv no connection to TV ariel or freeview so nothing to watch on TV :( These are some basic things that we need to have. But on the plus side, owner was ok in arranging the stuff immediately but you would expect these basic amenities to be in good working order.

"Could have been wonderful but..."

3 of 5 stars

This could have been one of the nicest cottages we've ever stayed in but for several significant problems. Even though I had seen previous comments re. broken dishwasher and washing machine, neither were working on our arrival and dishwasher was full of stinking, standing water. When i rang owner and asked for partical refund, he came the next day and replaced dishwasher and fixed washer. However, the cottage was not clean, i had to wash food and grease from grimy cooker before use and freezer badly needed defrosting as door wouldn't shut. Upper floor bedroom had no storage. Insufficient equipment in kitchen, only 3 pans to prepare meals for 7 people and no casserole type/microwave dishes..not even a tea-pot! Dead flies everywhere on our arrival and to top it all..grumpy neighbours who resented holiday makers.

lovely cottage, beautiful location.Poorly equipped.we were a family of 9 adults not enough serving dishes or saucepans and the sausepans that were there were old and unuseable. The vacuum cleaner did not work either. Two electrical sockets in double bedroom did not work.It is a lovely cottage but does need a lot of maintenance carried out and kitchen badly need more equipment.Such a shame as it could be lovely

"Stunning setting, great days out and dodgy plumbing"

3 of 5 stars

Our stay at Dunoon was blessed with gorgeous weather which allowed us to enjoy the fabulous Cowal peninsula at it's beautiful best. The cottage is in a wonderfully peaceful setting which made the stay very relaxing. However although the property is very spacious and well designed the plumbing needs some professional attention. Despite not being able to use the dishwasher or washing machine we didn't let that set back deter us and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lochs, mountians and country roads. For those of you who like Golf make sure you get to the Kyles of Bute courser at Kames, the views can't be beaten anywhere.

"Comfortable and Pleasant with a few niggles"

4 of 5 stars

Pleasant rural location with short walk to the Forest Park, and within easy reach of the main a815 and local facilities. Well laid-out and comfortable house. Our boys liked the large screen TV and pool table. Had some difficulty finding it in the dark, as the directions were a bit inaccurate. It ought to have a proper name, not just a sign saying "Private access Only". The dishwasher was out of order and there were problems with the 2 vacuum cleaners: the small one was full and had no spare bag, the large one had a broken drive belt and badly clogged filters. In holiday properties you normally find information sheets about do's and don'ts, refuse disposal etc, and a visitors book, but we found neither here, though we did find instruction books for all the appliances and a local tourist map. Anyone coming from the South will need to take a ferry or face a long extra drive by land, so we would advise checking ferry fares before booking. Despite the niggles we enjoyed our stay, and a bit more attention to detail would have made it excellent rather than just good.
