For 2019, Edinburgh's spectacular and world-renowned Royal Military Tattoo takes place between 2nd - 24th August 2019.

The 2019 Tattoo, which is the 70th consecutive tattoo in Edinburgh will feature, amongst others, the New Zealand Army Band and Lochiel Marching Drill Team, His Majesty The King's Guard from Norway, the Imps Motorcycle Display Team alongside the Royal Jordanian Armed Forces Band and Drill Team as well as the Massed Pipes and Drums of the Scottish Division. In all 1200 performers will feature in 2019 from as far afield as Scandinavia, the Middle East, North America, Europe and the Antipodes. Amongst the British army bands taking part will be The Band of The Household Cavalry, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, The Royal Regiment of Scotland and The Royal Irish Regiment. The spectacle closes with the  Lone Piper, playing high on the Castle battlements above the parade ground, whose haunting lament, The Flowers of the Forest, originally recalls the dead of Flodden Field but is today a lament for the many soldiers in armies around the world who give their today for our tomorrow.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is Scotland's biggest and best-selling spectacle, the most popular annual event on the Scottish calendar, attracting an international audience each year of some 217,000 people. We offer 2 and 3 night packages to the Tattoo that combine your accommodation and tickets to the Tattoo.

The 2019 Tattoo (2nd-24th August 2019) will be the 70th extravaganza to be staged at the Scottish capital's ancient Castle - a spectacular and inspiring backcloth for this remarkable and internationally acclaimed event. With innovative production, heart-stopping sound, imaginative graphics, state-of-the-art lighting and specially commissioned fireworks, the 90-minute show is set to captivate a large cosmopolitan audience.

The line-up of nearly 1200 performers includes hundreds of musicians, pipers, drummers, singers and dancers.

A huge audience favourite is once again expected to be the traditional and poignant close of the evening's proceedings when the Lone Piper high on the Castle ramparts plays a haunting lament, before the colourful, cosmopolitan cast march off the Esplanade to the strains of famous  pipe melody, The Black Bear.
