After a stunning 4 mile drive along the pebbled shoreline of Loch Ryan, you reach the sleepy hamlet of Kirkcolm where this charming terraced cottage, a listed building, is the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Built in 1846, the cottage has been tastefully renovated and the rooms are well-appointed and finished to a very high standard. There is an elevated sun deck to the rear, accessed by steps and a small patio area off the kitchen with patio furniture and barbecue. The property may suit some visitors with limited mobility.

Local pursuits include fishing, sailing, cycling, pony trekking, golf and hill-walking - the Southern Upland Way starts nearby. The village has a general store and local pub. The town of Stranraer offers shops, pubs, restaurants, swimming pool and cinema and affords visitors the opportunity of day trips to Ireland -the ferry crossing takes 1½ hours.

Ground floor: 1 double bedroom, welcoming living room with open fire; newly fitted, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and a period fireplace.

Upstairs: 2 very spacious twin bedrooms in the attic. A camp bed is also available.

Cooking by electricity, oil-fired central heating plus open fire. Fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, television, DVD, CD player. Bed linen and towels are provided.

"Kircolm May 2011"

Rowanlea was a beautiful cottage, clean, tidy & all the mod cons you could ask for. Located in a small village with a shop & great local pub. Highly recommendable.

"Cosy cottage in a good location"

Cottage was very clean and tidy with all mod cons. Garden was lovely but not quite warm enough for us to sit out! Imagine it would be a great sun trap in summer. Ideal for touring around area which has very beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit. We are golfers/walkers and the golf courses in the area are superb as was the walking. Very convenient for good food shopping in Stranraer although there was a village shop and pub on the doorstep. All in all, a very peaceful and relaxing holiday in a very comfortable character cottage.

"Lovely place, in a very pleasant village"

This was our fist time in Galloway, and we loved the area. The village was small, and quiet, but with a real personality, and a very pleasant local pub too.
