Customer Reviews of MacKenzie's Peak Holiday House near Portree - Sleep 6

1st comment: This property is ideally situated, very well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. Having stayed in a number of self catering holiday properties, this ranks easily as the best. Oct 2011.

2nd comment: Excellent place to stay, with the owners next door but unobtrusive and yet extremely friendly. Well equipped house. Shopping can be done at the Portree Co-Op, but it’s possibly best to do a shop in Fort William Morrison’s before arrival. Our late October stay obviously had some weather issues but the week was hugely enjoyable and we walked miles - often through bog and rain but always with a smile at the wonderful scenery. Roads on Skye are mostly single track but very well surfaced - apart from in the Braes where I burst two, yes two, tyres in a submerged pothole! Oh, the house has Underfloor heating and radiators - it’s lovely and warm to come back to after a day on the Cullin screeline. Oct 2011.

3rd comment: Fantastic location of the property and a very good standard. I took my elderly father away for his 80th birthday which he thoroughly enjoyed however feel that skye as a place is more just for the scenery (which is outstanding) and for walkers. I would highly recommend bringing groceries with you as the only supermarkets of sort on skye are Co-op which is very expensive. Sept 2011.

4th comment: Superb property which is ideally positioned for exploring Skye. The large downstairs kitchen / dining area and the upstairs lounge with views towards Rassay, were big plus points. Aug 2011.

5th comment: We had a great time on Skye. The accommodation was really good and provided everything from a cot and high chair, through to extremely comfortable beds and a magnificent kitchen and 3 TVs. Aug 2011.

6th comment: What an incredible cottage, it has every comfort, is spacious and clean and Sconser is an excellent location to explore the whole of Skye. The view on the bay is incredible! July 2011.

7th comment: Well appointed and well kept. Dec 2010.

8th comment: Very comfortable, well equipped property with fabulous views. Oct 2010.

9th comment: Elevated situation with picture windows on both floors giving views across the sea to the island of Raasay. Very spacious kitchen and dining area. Well equipped. Sept 2010.

10th comment: We loved everything about the house. The views were superb and the location great for travelling to all parts of the island. The stair gates were very much a plus when a crawling grandchild was in our party. Aug 2010.

11th Comment Well finished, light, airy and clean with lots of space and storage room and well equipped. July 2010.

12th Comment The accommodation was a fabulous large modern house with all necessary equipment, tourist leaflets and guide books but most of all it has the most spectacular views from both front and back picture windows. The owners were on site next door and were very friendly and approachable. Feb 2010.

13th Comment The website did not do it justice - the house was really big and immaculate. The view was stunning. Nov 2009.

14th Comment The house was finished to a very high standard, was very well equipped, felt very homely and had stunning views. Aug 2009.

15th Comment Perfectly positioned for exploring the whole island. July 2009.

16th Comment Great location for getting to the Cuillins ridge and around the island. Modern and spacious, very well appointed. Cleaning products etc there which was nice. Great views. July 2009.

17th Comment The property was just wonderfully furnished, very warm and the views were stunning of the mountains and the loch. Absolutely will be coming back. Oct 2008.

18th Comment You could not wish for better accommodation, or a more helpful and friendly owner, or a more magical place to have a holiday. We have stayed twice at Mackenzie’s Peak and we shall be staying more in the future. May 2008.

19th Comment Perfect location and views. June 2008.

20th Comment Mackenzie’s Peak is in a beautiful location with stunning views. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and the quality of the cottage itself cannot be faulted. Highly recommended! Aug 2008.

We chose this property particularly for the views from the lounge. We were not disappointed. On really wet days we were content to watch the wildlife from the comfort of the house.

An outstanding house, perfectly placed for touring, lounging and watching wildlife from the windows. It had really comfortable beds, a great kitchen and an amazing picture window upstairs. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!
Mr Smith,
August 2015

The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable with gorgeous views both back and front. It was perfectly situated for access to all areas of Skye.
Ms Kahn,
September 2015

The scenery was spectacular and the places of interest are worthy of your bucket list. It was lovely to have breakfast in the morning sitting at the dining table watching the mountain being reflected in the water and seeing the little ferry carrying passengers over to Raasay. MacKenzie's Peak is on the site of where John MacKenzie was born. We could not have asked for a better place to stay while enjoying Skye.
Mrs George, Moray
