Castle Douglas, close by, is a traditional market town with individual shops specialising in food and local produce. Visitors will find unspoilt villages, dramatic coastlines, sandy beaches, rocky coves, magnificent gardens, castles and ancient monuments to explore. Wildlife is in abundance with the RSPB nature reserve, 400 yards, on the River Nith estuary. Golf, fishing, riding and sailing all available. Shop and pub 11/2 miles, restaurant 2½ miles.
