This beautiful Victorian house with stunning views over a loch and hills, sits between its own large garden and the flower-filled courtyard of Lochside House. Set within parkland with rare breeds and horses, this comfortable holiday property is extremely well-equipped and superbly furnished with antiques and soft sofas, perfect for relaxing in after exploring the many abbeys, castles and old houses found within the area.
Numerous recreational facilities are provided for visitors – without even having to leave the grounds – and which cater for a whole range of interests and a variety of tastes. Music lovers will be delighted by the grand piano which graces the drawing room; whilst a selection of games, toys and books make for an enjoyable evening spent together as a family. The more sports-orientated are able to while away many happy hours playing snooker and badminton, or enjoying the more sedate game of croquet, whilst trout and coarse fishing are also available on-site at cost. A pub to frequent in the evenings lies just 1½ miles away.
The village of Yetholm is made up of two distinct parts – Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm, which lie just ¼ mile apart. Situated on the edge of the Cheviot Hills, they mark the end of the Pennine Way footpath, as well as the second leg of St Cuthbert’s Way (a 60-mile walk ending at Holy Island in Northumberland). Six miles to the north is Kelso, where surviving ruins belie the fact that Kelso Abbey was once the richest and most powerful in southern Scotland, and took eighty years to build. Kelso lies at the confluence of the River Tweed and River Teviot, a renowned spot for salmon fishing, and a short walk leads to Floors Castle, a huge castellated mansion overlooking the Tweed, which is open for visiting (April to Oct). Shops 11/2 miles.

Customer Reviews of Lochside Stable House, nr Kelso - Sleeps 8-11

1st comment: A wonderful place to spend with your friends or your family. We all had so much fun the property lends its self to a multitude of functions a base for beautiful walks. Tones of entertainment on site and friendly animals. Very helpful and friendly owners near by for anything you may need. Feb 2012.

2nd comment: Had an lovely time, Edward very helpful and accommodating. Could have done with a welcome pack on arrival as unable to get in before 5pm and shops not local. The children loved the animals, especially the piglets. House lovely, but would have liked a fire in the large living room and a telly in the snug with the fire. Hot tub superb, especially as undercover, we used it every night, sometimes twice in a day. Not much information about places to go, would have liked a tide timetable for Holy Island so that we could have spent longer there, otherwise one of our best October breaks for a few years. Oct 2011.

3rd comment: Very nice house, spacious, with good facilities. Hot tub was excellent and the piglets were just gorgeous! Very relaxing week! Oct 2011.

4th comment: We all enjoyed our time at Lochside and didnt want to leave at the end of the week! The owners were very friendly and helpful. The house was great with plenty of room for our party of 8. We loved all of the farm animals who were frequent visitors and rowing on the loch was a real treat! Would recommend and hope to visit again soon! Sept 2011.

5th comment: Lovely big kitchen where everyone can sit. Lots of space for everyone in the party. Enough bathrooms. Great area for walking, peace & quiet. And the farm animals are a bonus. Owners extremely friendly. Hot tub great fun. Sept 2011.

6th comment: A real traditional family holiday. All the farm animals - especially the pigs - as well as the fishing, access to a rowing boat, the badminton, croquet, snooker and hot tub were all really important for us and enjoyed by everyone. Edward the owner is brilliant and extremely helpful. Masses of places to visit locally. Aug 2011.

7th comment: A spacious property set in a superb location with a friendly and helpful owner on hand. The sauna, snooker table and badminton net provided endless hours of fun for all, as did feeding the chickens, peacocks, geese and piglets. Rowing on the loch in the evenings and watching the house martins and swallows that were nesting around the property was an unexpected delight. July 2011.

8th comment: Exellent location within easy reach of Kelso and local village shop facilities where great and the open countryside views were stunning. We will be revisiting lochside. April 2011.

9th comment: We enjoyed a wonderful holiday a Lochside Stable house. The property was endearing and in an excellent location and we were well received and looked after throughout our stay. We generally like to get out and about during our holidays but were reluctant to leave the property as we felt so relaxed and comfortable there. When we did venture out, Kelso was very pretty and Edinburgh was well within reach and well worth the visit. For the 3 children in our party the facilities were excellent with the farm animals, loch, hot-tub, games and trampoline (particularly well received) and non of us wanted to leave at the end of the week. We will definitely be back! Many thanks. April 2011.

10th comment: High quality well thought out spacious accommodation - just perfect. House warm and fire lit on arrival. Very helpful owner with nothing too much trouble - wanted to stay longer! Dec 2010.
