Customer Reviews of The Finches,Sanquhar, sleeps 6

st comment: The property was totally unexpected and you wouldn’t believe it was situated in the middle of the town. We were also pleasantly surprised with the amount of history both in the town and local area. Oct 2011.

nd comment: We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages and I think this was the cleanest we’ve ever been in. Garden was lovely, but it was too wet for us to use it. The house was very comfortable and we enjoyed staying there. The lane up to the High Street was very pretty with all the flowers. Not much to do in Sanquhar - even the church was locked so we couldn’t look around it, but walking and cycling were good. Locals were very friendly. Got a nice pint in the Crown. Further affield was good for days out, Moffat, Wanlockhead and Castle Douglas were all interesting. Had a good meal in Thornhill at Queensberry arms. Couldn’t watch the TVs independently of each other, but we don’t go on holiday to watch TV, so it didn’t really matter. Oct 2011.

rd comment: Spacious inside and out. The car port was such a bonus in the snowy, freezing conditions. Nov 2010.

th comment: Lots of space, modern furniture and decor. Nov 2010.

th comment: Although property near high street it was serenely quiet with a lovely back garden with trees & many visiting birds with a bird table. Having breakfast in the conservatory watching the birds was a lovely way to start the day. House had all the necessary equipment required for an enjoyable stay. Very warm building. Oct 2010.

th comment: For just 3 of us the property was spacious and comfortable. The conservatory and covered veranda provided an ideal place to watch the birds at the bird feeders, which was a major feature of the holiday let. Although you parked your car(s) at the rear of the property, accessed through an estate an up a track, you could walk out of the front door up an historic close and straight onto the main street. Sept 2010.

th comment: A hidden gem, even the locals didn’t know it was there! Sitting in the conservatory or on the patio watching the antics of the birds feeding and squabbling, it was hard to believe that you were not in the middle of the countryside. Yet, the village main street is only 30 seconds away through the ’pend’, with all the amenities it offered. Sept 2010.

th comment: Spacious - very large conservatory and a verandah overlooking a large garden. Very dog friendly too - floors easy to clean/wipe off dog fooprints on wet days. Also, stairs shut off by downstairs door, so no wandering dog upstairs. Sept 2010.

th comment: Great location, large peaceful garden but just down a short footpath to the high street, so everythings on your doorstep! Local butchers with fantastic local produce, real bakery, and the newsagents is positively an Aladin’s cave. Well equipped kitchen. Good local walks, and Sanquhar doesn’t have that touristy plastic-ness to it! All of the locals were really friendly too. June 2010.
