" A traditional Highland retreat, flanked by mountains, forests and lochs... all the ingredients of an idyllic Scottish holiday...yet only 90 minutes from Edinburgh"

Set on a magnificent Highland estate spanning 4500 acres with hills rising to 2500ft, these five holiday properties, all with the same level of comfort and amenities, are situated on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park with a wild flower reserve nearby, and an abundance of wildlife including ospreys and huge herds of deer. For 300 years Cistercian Monks spent half of each year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the houses. There are ancient wild flower meadows with rare wild yellow violets and orchids. Red squirrels live around the gardens and the walls support rare ferns and lichens which grow only in unpolluted places. Wester Brewlands, one of President G. Bush’s childhood holiday homes, is a fine, spacious, detached Scottish house for discerning guests and families, elegantly furnished with care and attention with antiques and affording wonderful views across the ancient 20-acre garden and down the glen.
Tucked away behind its own little wood, delightful 18th-century Clover Cottage is reached from its parking area via a short track across a stream. Lovingly restored, it has its own large garden with views towards the great massif of the Grampians. Claypotts is a charming 18th-century cottage, with a bathroom for each bedroom, and is in an utterly peaceful glen at the heart of the estate with its own enclosed garden on the banks of the River Isla. Croft End Cottage, a 15th-century cottage lies secluded behind double hedges and is a romantic yet fabulously comfortable place perfect for explorers, lovers and honeymooners. It is 400 yards from one of the best (private) trout lochs in Scotland with stunning views of mountains up to 3000 feet. Sympathetically restored, it retains a medieval fireplace, with a wood-burning stove, original wood-panelled walls and ceiling, solid oak floor, granite worktops and super kingsize bed with en-suite power shower. Brewlands Cottage is a 17th-century, cosy, very comfortable property in a lovely riverside location with fishing from the garden and views of high hills and surrounding quiet countryside. With its own large enclosed garden it makes a super retreat for couples or families. Apart from the wonderful walking from the door of each cottage, and a wealth of bird-watching, fishing (with rod hire) on trout lochs and on the 7-mile river frontage can be enjoyed, with shooting and stalking by prior arrangement. Excellent golf courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Rosemount. The ski resort at Glenshee is 35 minutes by car, as is Pitlochry with its Festival Theatre, restaurants and kilt and cashmere shops. An adventure centre 20 minutes away, with pony trekking at Balmoral Estate and many castles and stately homes to visit: Balmoral, Glamis, Blair Atholl, Scone Palace and Braemar (home to the Highland Games). Visit the famous Whisky Trail - many distilleries offer guided tours and the chance to sample the local firewater. Riding centre 6 miles. The oldest tree in Europe is in Fortingall, 1 hour. Shops 12 miles, pub 2 miles.
