In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, these four very comfortable holiday cottages enjoy far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Laundry Cottage and Dunmore Bothy are both detached, single-storey cottages, whilst Stable Cottage, also single-storey, adjoins The Coach House, an impressive, 19th-century stone building retaining many of its original features. These smart colour co-ordinated properties have been furnished with rich luxury curtains and soft furnishing and each property has its own garden; visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland’s finest salmon fishing.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village (3 miles) is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive.
Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops 3 miles.

Customer Reviews of Dunmore Bothy, Dunkeld - Sleeps 2

1st comment: Dunmore Bothy is a wonderful place to escape to whether you’re on a romantic break, a mission to leave home and work far behind for a few days or if you just want somewhere to completely chill out and do nothing! Aug 2011.

2nd comment: This is a great cottage to really get away from it all and chill out. The Bothy is on top of a hill where you are not overlooked. If you like peace, quiet, walking with abundant wildlife this is the place for you. The owner is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Dunkeld town is just a short drive away and they have everything you need whether you want to eat out or just buy food in, with an excellent Deli etc. The whole area has so much to offer. We have been going there for the last 4 years whenever we feel the need to get away from the rat race. Perth is just up the road or you can take the train to Glasgow, Edinburgh the list is endless there is something for everyone. June 2011.

3rd comment: Open fire and quiet location. Oct 2010.

4th comment: Quietly situated in beautiful surroundings on a private estate. Oct 2010.

5th comment: The property was in a lovely quiet location with beautiful scenery and wildlife. The little extras like chocolate, wine and flowers was a lovely touch on arrival. As we took our spaniel it was great that we could walk all over the estate without even going anywhere (if you didn’t want to). Dunkeld itself has every thing you could want from places to eat to fish & chip shop. Dunkeld is a very excellent place to explore Scotland from without having to travel too far. I would really recommend the Bothy and Dunkeld. Sept 2010.

6th comment: Welcoming and cosy. Very comfortable bed. Loved the casserole dish. Sept 2010.

7th comment: Fabulous location - our 2 spaniels loved the estate. Well equipped, furnished and decorated property. Nice touches eg bottle of wine and flowers on arrival. Aug 2010.
