Visitor guide to Scottish Parliament or Holyrood as it is called including details of visiting the interior...

Still the subject of much local controversy as much for the quality of the architecture as the final financial cost. The original budget was £40 million, and the final cost was £350 million! Local Edinburgh inhabitants have certainly not fallen in love with the building which is intricate and complex; however the architectural profession have lavished it with praise and awards.

The interior is more striking and the quality fo materials fabulous. However, many feel that the rhetorical quality of the building matches the parliament itself: more sound than substance! Sadly, terrorist concerns make it difficult to visit the interior and the splendor of the beamed interior is rather ruined by the internal furniture. The external garden is an excellent place to sit down for a break after a visit to Arthur's Seat.
