Glasgow Festivals

Glasgow doesn't like to be overshadowed by Edinburgh, and has a few notable festivals of its own.

Things kick off in the last 2 weeks of Jan with the Celtic Connections music festival, featuring artists form around the world. It is held in the Royal Concert Hall (Tel: 3538000).

The city's biggest festival is the West End Festival, 2 weeks of music, theatre and various free events held over 2 weeks in Jun (Tel: 3410844). Other festivals include the RSNO Proms, at the Royal Concert Hall in Jun, the Glasgow International Jazz Festival (Tel: 5523552) in Jul, and the World Pipe Band Championships (Tel: 2215414) which are held on Glasgow Green in mid-Aug.

Glasgay is Britain's largest lesbian and gay arts festival held in various venues from late Oct to early Nov. Tel: 3347129. For further information, contact Glasgow City Council's events department (Tel: 2872000).


Glasgow Science Festival

A family friendly science festival featuring various activities including spectacular science shows, arts/crafts stations, workshops, film screenings, exhibits and meet the researcher sessions for all ages.

Whisky Live

Appealing to both the enthusiast and the novice alike, Whisky Live is the whisky tasting and sampling event of the year.

MOBO Awards

Mobo Awards is the hottest urban music event that showcases the finest selection of established and up-and-coming national and international MOBO Music acts.
