Glasgow Festivals

Glasgow doesn't like to be overshadowed by Edinburgh, and has a few notable festivals of its own.

Things kick off in the last 2 weeks of Jan with the Celtic Connections music festival, featuring artists form around the world. It is held in the Royal Concert Hall (Tel: 3538000).

The city's biggest festival is the West End Festival, 2 weeks of music, theatre and various free events held over 2 weeks in Jun (Tel: 3410844). Other festivals include the RSNO Proms, at the Royal Concert Hall in Jun, the Glasgow International Jazz Festival (Tel: 5523552) in Jul, and the World Pipe Band Championships (Tel: 2215414) which are held on Glasgow Green in mid-Aug.

Glasgay is Britain's largest lesbian and gay arts festival held in various venues from late Oct to early Nov. Tel: 3347129. For further information, contact Glasgow City Council's events department (Tel: 2872000).
