Sports in Edinburgh

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Just a few miles out of town near to the airport (though away from the plane noise) Great fun and safe as well. Andy and Hugh at Clay Shooting in Edinburgh should ensure that you have a good time.

Climbing

There's indoor rock climbing at Alien Rock, Old St Andrew's Church, Pier Pl, Newhaven, Tel: 5527211. Climbing walls of various degrees of difficulty and a bouldering room.

The Ratho Adventure Centre is even more amazing with is huge, I mean huge indoor walls are absolutely amazing for climbing.

Football

Edinburgh has 2 Scottish Premier League teams, who play at home on alternate Saturdays during the league season. Heart of Midlothian, or Hearts, play at Tyncastle, on the Gorgie Road about a mile west of Haymarket, and Hibernian (Hibs) play at Easter Road, east of the centre near Leith. Rivalry between the two is fierce, but thankfully free from the religious bigotry of their Glasgow Glasgow counterparts.

Golf

There are many fine golf courses around Edinburgh, especially along the coast of East Lothian, but most are private. Public courses in and around the city include the two at Braid Hills, Tel: 4476666, Silverknowes, Tel: 3363843, Torphin Hill, Tel: 4414061, and Lothianburn, Tel: 4452288.
