Small fishing village on the tip of the Black Isle on the North East coast of Scotland.

Portmahomack is a charming fishing village on the shores of the Dornoch Firth, an inlet of the Moray Firth on the North side of the Black Isle. The village looks oiut across the North Sea and inland towards the Sutherland Mountains.

The village has excellent local services including a village shop and post office, a cafe and a seafood restaurant.

Portmahomack has a white sandy beach without strong currents making it ideal for water sports and swimming if you can manage the cold blast from the sea.

The Tarbat Discovery Centre explores the pictish and local heritage, there is the lighthouse at the tip of the Peninsula that guides ships and fishing boats home and a 9 hole golf course.

Both travel south to the Highlands and Inverness is easy and you can easily drive north along the coast or inland to explore the relatively uninhabited Sutherland.
