Laggan is approximately 7 miles along the road to Fort William and is situated in the Central Highlands ofScotland, surrounded by the Monadhliath and Grampian mountain ranges. Monarch of the Glen" was filmed entirely on location in the Badenoch and Strathspey area set against the Cairngorm and Monadhliath Mountains, in Laggan and the surrounding area.
Laggan is an excellent base for touring by car and an ideal location for all outdoor activities, including fishing in the River Spey and surrounding lochs, Hill Walking and Mountaineering, Golf with several courses in the area, Pony Trekking and Ski-ing.
The Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie is located on the A86 only 10-15 minutes drive from Laggan. The Ruthven Barracks a stronghold site since the 13th century,is also in this village.
The Dalwhinnie distillery the highest in the land is just 10 minutes away while the Blair Atholl is a little further away in the Highland town of Pitlochry.
