ULLAPOOL - ACHILTIBUIE Road Trip

 Lovely half day or full day trip that can feature a walk up Stac Pollaidh - starts in Ullapool.



Drive north from Ullapool (Ulapul), then left onto an C1047 with signs to Achiltibuie. Drive up the north side of Loch Lurgainn, with the mountains of Cul Beag and Stac Pollaidh on your right. If you want to make this an outdoor day as well, why not take the hike up Stac Pollaidh (see orange route on map). Follow signs for Altandhu and then turn right to stop at the Achnahaird Beach The turn south  and east Achiltibuie (Achd Ille Bhuidhe, or “Field of the Yellow-Haired Boy”) and visit the Summer Isles Hotel, which overlooks the islands of the same name, once a summer haunt of the Royal family on the Royal Yacht Britannia in the past. ( The yacht is now moored in Leith, Edinburgh.)
