Old Pine Yurt Tomintoul

Located in the foothills of Cairngorms near Tomintoul village in old Pine wood. Asian yurt with double bed for two.

The Old Pine Yurt is situated under an ancient Scots Pine tree on the East side of Tom Beag, one of the foothills of the Cairngorms, overlooking beautiful Strathavon.

Only accommodating one booking at a time, it is the perfect relaxed setting for a private retreat. Adjacent to the Yurt is the Hut, where you will find books, games, local information and a comfy seating area.

Wildlife is all around - on any day you could spot deer, hares, red squirrels, otters, grouse, buzzards, kestrels and many other bird species. Golden eagles have even been seen close by. There is also a huge range of wildflowers, including orchids, within the woodland nearby.

The Yurt itself is truly off-grid. Heating is in the form of a wood-burning stove and lighting is by lantern. The water supply is derived from an underground spring and we think you will agree it is some of the sweetest and purest you will ever have tasted. Cooking is by gas and the shower has an ingenious log-fired heating system.

However, we recognise that a few amenities make life a bit more pleasant, and you can be assured of a restful night's sleep in the extremely comfortable double bed. The toilet is fully plumbed and flushing, and there is a wee nook in the Hut where you will find an adequate WiFi signal to check emails and keep up with the outside world, if you really must ...

YURT ESSENTIALS

Yurts are canvas structures originating from Central Asia. Ours is hand-crafted from sustainably grown Welsh willow, which has been steamed and shaped to create a sturdy frame.
