Blackstock
There appears to be no certain origin for this name but Blakstok of that Ilk appears in Workman’s manuscript and is stated by Nisbet to bear a coat of three black tree trunks on a silver field. Black states that the name may be territorial but he could trace no place of that name. William Blackstockwitnessed a deed in 1517 and the name arises again as a clerk of court in 1524. Blackstocks are listed as owning property in Edinburgh in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
