Langlands

The family of Langlands of that Ilk are said by Black to derive their name territorially from a property in Peebleshire. Nisbet states the family were of good standing in Teviotdale. They acquired part of the lands of the barony of Wilton in Roxburghshire. Marion, widow of John de Langland, received a charter of land in 1364. Jamie Langland was tenant of lands of Kelso Abbey in 1567. The main line seems to have failed in 1790.
