In a peaceful countryside setting these three traditional stone built holiday cottages, formerly a small croft, are situated only 1 mile from the picturesque town of Kirkcudbright, made up of beautifully painted houses of assorted architecture – including Georgian villas and Victorian town houses. Known as the artist’s town, there are numerous art galleries, antique shops, museums and cafés, the harbour and the impressive ruins of MacLellans Castle. There are many festivals including Scottish Nights, historic walks, a jazz festival, the Wickerman Festival and a spectacular tattoo festival. There are various walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by there is sure to be something for everyone. Customer Reviews of The Byre, Kirkcudbright - sleeps 4

st comment: The property is in a fabulous location, only one mile from Kirkcudbright with excellent walks in all directions. Our views were fantastic over a field with highland cattle. We had a great visit to Laggan Activity centre, recommended by the owner of the cottage, Mr Donald Duncan, a real gent. Steve, our trainer, made sure we were all happy as we took our segways up the side of the fell to fantastic views - brilliant. We had a brilliant holiday. Aug 2011.

nd comment: Lovely area , cottage situated within easy reach of lovely places and scenery. Selkirk Arms in Kirkcudbright serves good food, but a bit of a shortage of good pubs and eating places. June 2011.

rd comment: The cottage was presented very nicely a real home from home, equipment excellent. The countryside was scenic, plenty of lovely walks...and free parking!!!! We would definitely return. April 2011.

th comment: It i difficult to fault this accommodation or the location. A small thing but important is the provision of a clock radio. Not a failing but missed when not available. March 2011.

th comment: Nice country side location, very quiet but close to local town with all amenities. Sep 2010.
