Situated on a magnificent stretch of the Atlantic coastline, with the gently rolling Scottish countryside at its back, Turnberry is a stunning resort. Set in 800 acres of one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland, Turnberry’s fascinating provenance and idyllic natural position render any stay a memorable experience. These 5-star, first-floor holiday apartments are at the heart of the Turnberry resort and fully furnished to high standards, with excellent views of the sea and the golf course. Lands of Turnberry offers the only self-catering facilities on the west coast of Scotland where guests have unrestricted access to Turnberry’s championship golf courses and The Spa at Turnberry with unlimited use of the heated indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room and Technogym Fitness Studio. Bespoke treatments are available. The resort also has a superb Outdoor Centre with a large variety of activities on offer, including cycling, horse riding, carriage driving, falconry, archery, 4x4 off-road driving, quad biking and clay and rifle target shooting. The youngest of the family will surely enjoy the working farm with petting zoo.
For guests who want to venture out of the resort, Turnberry is situated on the Ayrshire Coastal Path, one of Scotland’s long distance walking routes, 100 miles along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. Crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde, this coastline is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, deer, otters and seals and is a haven for bird watchers. Inland there are gardens and castles to visit, Culzean Castle (owned by the National Trust for Scotland) is spectacular and is Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction. The surrounding country park (extending over 550 acres) has a network of wooded trails passing along the beach. Craft shows, country dancing and walks spotting fungi are attractions hosted during the year. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Stranraer, whilst a drive north leads to Ayr, a traditional seaside town. Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily reached for a day out. Shop 4 miles, pub 200 yards.
