Newton Mearns

This small town sits in the East Renfrewshire County just seven miles southwest of Glasgow. The town dates back to14th century, it got its name from being a new town on the moors "Mearns", and ideally the town is a part of the Glasgow urban area. Till the 20th century the land over the town was agricultural land. Later the ownership of these lands shifted to many hands. It was after 1830s that the place became the suburb of Glasgow. The present Ayr road was also constructed during that time, which connected the town to the road route. Further the development of this place started with many estates and bungalows taking shape, giving the place a modern look.
