House for an Art Lover Conference Venue in Glasgow

The House for an Art Lover

The House for an Art Lover was designed in 1901 by Glasgow's most celebrated architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Although it was not built during
Mackintosh's lifetime, construction began in 1989 and the House for an Art Lover became a reality in 1996. Visitors to the House are invited to view a series of Mackintosh exhibition rooms, where they can compare Mackintosh's original designs against each completed room.

Today, the House for an Art Lover is one of Glasgow's most prestigious visitor attractions and has established itself as a highly rated Venue for corporate and private dining. Within the beautiful landscape of Bellahouston Park, the House for an Art Lover is a truly original Venue, ideally suited for corporate hospitality, conferences, training or indeed any event which would benefit from such a prestigious setting, including weddings and private parties. The impressive suite of 'Mackintosh' rooms offers a unique Private Dining experience.
With a reputation for innovative catering of the highest standard, House for an Art Lover offers tempting menus ranging from elaborate dinners and fork buffets to finger buffets and canap's.

Recognising that your needs are probably as individual as our Venue, we welcome the opportunity to tailor our service to meet your requirements. On arrival your guests will be professionally greeted by our staff offering a very personal touch. Visitors will be encouraged to view the beautifully realised suite of Mackintosh Rooms during their visit to savour his creative genius. Or perhaps guests would prefer a little musical entertainment, in which case the Music Room provides the ideal location for all types of recitals. Many of our clients also find a stroll in the award-winning Victorian Walled Gardens provides the perfect accompaniment to any event.

The Main Hall
Visitors to the Mackintosh Rooms enter through a small, intimate vestibule into the grand elevated space of the Main Hall. The Hall is the central feature of the first floor from which the other main rooms can be accessed. As with the other interiors, Mackintosh has carefully considered the competition specification that the suite should be used for grand entertaining.
Sliding doors which lead to the Dining Room can be closed to create two distinct areas or opened up to create one large space, making the Main Hall an excellent reception area. Delicate craftwork details can be picked out between the dark, simple vertical lines of the wooden panelling including beaten metal sections and softly coloured stained glass. Three large, elongated windows and beautiful clusters of lighting light the Hall. It is both majestic in scale and serene in atmosphere.

The Oval Room
This was originally the Ladies Room where ladies would retire after dining, and is delicately formed in an oval shape, Mackintosh's favourite feminine symbol. The oval shape continues right through the room incorporating the window, as well as resonating in the light surround and the wall cupboards.
No interior drawings were given by Mackintosh for this room. The light fittings, fireplace and window seats have been created to suit the space from photographic evidence of other Mackintosh interiors.

The Dining Room
The familiar high-back chairs and a dining table stand firmly as a focus in the centre of the Dining Room. Around the walls a series of intricate Gesso panels have been created as an interpretation of the tiny details given on the original design. Telling the 'Life of the Rose', these panels indicate Margaret MacDonald's important decorative influence within Mackintosh's work.
The smooth carved detail of the central fireplace and stencilled decoration also show alternative translations of Mackintosh's favourite rose motif. The rose theme is echoed throughout the room from the carpet and stained glass inserts in the sliding door, to the stemmed rose details on the sideboard. The pendant lamps that light the room are of a jewel-like quality in the pastel shades characteristic of Mackintosh's work.

We and our partners can organise every aspect of your event, from hotel accommodation, transport, to leisure activities and entertainment.

Scotland is a perfect location for business events - let us prove it to you.

Meeting all your Needs

We can provide advice and consultancy services or we can manage every aspect of your visit. With over ten years experience of corporate events, we have the skills and knowledge to ensure it goes without a hitch

Let us Help just a little...

Many travel companies insist on organising all your needs. We can help when you simply have a few things that need arranging. As locals with dozens of aunts and uncles in travel, we have lots of last minute ideas for you. So if you have left it a little late, fear not, we can dig you out of your hole.

Independent Advice

We are not a venue or owned by a conference organisation, so we offer independent advice to all our clients based on their requirements. It is not our job to sell you venues: it is our role to ensure you have a very successful event.

Supporting You

We know that organising major business events is a stressful experience. With directors breathing down your back and worrying about how clients or partners will view your efforts, let alone your fellow workers. We try to reduce that stress by offering clear communication, flexibility where required and understanding that sometimes it is all too much.

Creativity

Finally getting clients to attend your event is a major achievement. Now you have to impress them. That is where creativity really comes in. Delivering an event that impresses and leaves an impression is what counts!

Old Course Hotel Business Meeting Facilities St Andrews Scotland

The Old Course Hotel & Resort at St Andrews

Situated at the heart of the Home of Golf, the Old Course Hotel enjoys a spectacular location overlooking the famous 17th 'Road Hole' of the Old Course, the West Sands and the coastline of Fife.

Recently awarded five red-stars by the AA this prestigious hotel is recognised as one of Europe's leading resort properties.

One of the world's landmark Venues to do business, the Old Course Hotel is a truly memorable place to host important meetings and events. Facilities include ten meeting rooms, the largest for up to 300 delegates; banquet space for up to 300; business centre and wireless connectivity throughout the resort.

The Old Course Hotel offers an enticing choice of bars and restaurants; fine dining in the Road Hole Grill, Italian influenced cuisine in the relaxed atmosphere of Sands Bar & Restaurant, a Scottish-American menu at Duke's Clubhouse and the Jigger Inn, a popular golfing pub serving real ale and good wholesome food.

Relax or revitalise while enjoying The Spa's leisure facilities, including an indoor lap pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam rooms as well as resistance and cardiovascular fitness areas. A suite of specially designed therapy suites offer spectacular views over the Old Course to the sea. Choose from a wide range of therapies for both men and women designed by Clarins, Thalgo and Pevonia Botanica.

The resort's own championship golf course, the Duke's Course was designed by five-times Open Champion, Peter Thomson C.B.E.. This heathland layout is the perfect complement to the six St Andrews links courses. Golf tuition from the team of resident PGA professionals and practice facilities are available at The St Andrews Academy.

Atrium & Gallery
The centrepiece of the Millennium Wing, the Atrium combines the latest in presentation technology with a styling that is both contemporary and classic. Slate floors and solid walnut and cane furniture are in keeping with the atmosphere of St Andrews, yet the design is sleek and modern. The Champion's Board reminds you where you are, but when it's time to do business, our wall of six plasma screens enables presentations to be delivered with real impact.

At the heart of the Atrium lies the Gallery. Initially hidden from view, screens draw back to reveal this large open-plan space, its beams and polished black walnut floor. Roomy enough to accommodate even the largest items, the Gallery lends itself perfectly to dramatic product launches and other exhibitions.

Links Room
The keyword for meetings and events at the Old Course Hotel is "flexibility". Our range of meeting rooms means we can accommodate you and your guests exactly; our facilities fit your requirements, not the other way around. Rooms such as these three - Links, Jubilee and Strathtyrum - help us tailor our meetings service to suit your needs. The Links Room seats up to 60, for theatre-style presentations. French doors open onto gardens and the world famous 17th fairway beyond. There are black-out curtains to aid screen-based presentations.

Jubilee & Strathtyrum Room
The Jubilee & Strathtyrum are located opposite each other, each seating up to 20. They are ideal for smaller meetings, or for satellite meetings during a conference. The former has lovely views over the Old Course.

The Ballroom
The Ballroom is the classic grand function room, ideal for use in either large-scale dining or for conferences for up to 300 people. From product launches to fashion shows and beyond, this versatile space is fully equipped to answer your individual needs. Leading of the Ballroom, the Ballroom Foyer, with its natural daylight, is the perfect place to host drinks receptions and can also act as 'break-out area' for meetings, as well as for morning coffee and afternoon tea breaks.

The Conservatory
The closest you get to the Old Course without actually being on it, the Conservatory juts out from the hotel onto the 17th fairway. Despite the occasional interruption from a wayward drive clattering against the (reinforced) glass roof, the conservatory provides a beautiful setting for private dining, receptions or informal meetings up to 50 people.

The Boardroom
On the top floor of the hotel, the Boardroom offers panoramic views over the town of St Andrews beyond. The Boardroom is a meeting room in the classic, formal style, seating up to 16 people for meetings, lunch or dinner. The Boardroom's balcony is a wonderful place to relax in between meetings or to enjoy a pre-dinner drink looking down on the famous links.

The Trophy Room - Duke's Course Clubhouse
Located in the Duke's Clubhouse, the Trophy Room makes an ideal setting when combining corporate golf with a meeting, lunch or private dinner. This elegant room can comfortably seat up to 22 people.
