This spacious detached house, in the hamlet of East Cluden near Dumfries, sits in an elevated position overlooking the River Cairn and offers an ideal touring base. There are scenic river walks accessed directly from the door and the ‘Twelve Apostles’ stone circle is also within walking distance. Dumfries and Galloway is ideal for any holiday, as there are numerous places to walk, cycle, golf, ride and fish. It is rural in character, and abundant in bird and wildlife. Only a short drive to the market town of Dumfries, which has many places of interest including the Dumfries Museum, Gracefield Arts Centre, poet Robert Burns’ House, as well as cinemas, skating and swimming. Other attractions include Drumlanrig Castle, with its art collection, beautiful gardens and country park, and Mabie Farm Park. Nearby there are sculptures by Henry Moore, at Glenkiln, and the Striding Arches walk, by Andy Goldsworthy. Also nearby are Sweetheart Abbey, the National Museum of Costume at Shambellie House and the New Abbey Corn Mill. Further south is the medieval triangular-shaped Caerlaverock Castle dating back to 1270, and the Caerlaverock Wetland and Wildfowl Centre. Also ideally situated for access to the Seven Stanes mountain biking areas, and the National Cycle Network. Outdoor activities and water sports at Loch Ken. The Solway Coast has sandy beaches and rocky coves, towns and villages. Day tickets for salmon and trout fishing, including the beat alongside the property, can be purchased locally.
