On an extensive farming estate amidst glorious Highland scenery, these three properties all offer an opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet of a get away from it all holiday. Wildlife abounds in the varied habitat - forests, moorland and hills - bird-watching and hill-walking can be enjoyed here and trout fishing may be arranged. Access to the hills may be restricted in certain areas in October. There are many places of interest to visit - west to Pitlochry or south to Blairgowrie and Perth. The properties are on a working farm - the Highland cattle are a particular attraction!

Customer Reviews of Daldhu Cottage, Glenfernate - Sleeps 6

"Magnificent Desolation"

5 of 5 stars

Daldhu was much more than we anticipated: it is a beautiful and comfortable cottage set in what can only be described as magnificent desolation. The silence, the isolation and the setting is stupendous. Daldhu is just perfection.

"Lovely location, but ensuring comfort is hard work"

4 of 5 stars

Our 4th visit, but this time a fire was needed every evening for the hot water. Kindling had to be collected from the nearby wood, luckily the children enjoyed this chore. Walks of many differing lengths are possible from the door and the stream was an endless delight to the little ones. Our fisherman was entranced. Loch Loch may be over 2 hours walk, but it worth the trek. Very peaceful.

"Experience the feeling of isolation..."

5 of 5 stars

Daldhu is in a fantastically remote location, if you are in any way reliant on your "mod cons" this is not the place for you! Super location for some cracking day walks including several Munro's. Best not to use the generator as that scares the deer away. On several occasions we had the deer come in to the back garden and hills either side of the valley - fantastic viewing. We got by on daylight, candles and the light from the fire... Our second stay there, we are certain there will be a third.

"A real gem"

5 of 5 stars

To be honest we're reluctant to give a rave review in case too many people decided to stay, we should really keep this a secret! This year was our sixth visit as a family group, and our the first visit in august. Our normal time of year to visit is May/June. We will not go again in aug/Sept due to the midges but because it's one of our favourite places we didn't let it dampen our holiday spirit. Our normal routine is, breakfast/walk/read/sleep/walk/read/dinner/enjoy the peace and quiet. We resent having to go to Pitlochry for supplies. We have been visiting on and off for 10 years and it is by far our most favourite place. Our children, now 13, 17 and 19, who have done the "disney thing" still choose this over any other holiday, but they don't need "entertaining" If you need entertainment, cannot do without tv, phone, attachment to the outside world, then this is not the place for you. The down side? Ummm, let me think...
