The Loch Ness Monster - fact or fiction? Find out on this splendid coach tour through the glorious Scottish Highlands. Departs Glasgow daily. Our most popular Glasgow day coach tour.
Tour Highlights: Pitlochry, Cairngorm National Park, Spean Bridge, Loch Ness, Fort William, Glen Coe, Rannoch Moor
Our journey northwards takes us along the 'bonnie, bonnie banks' of Loch Lomond, where we’ll make a refreshment stop before entering Rob Roy MacGregor country. Next we drive across desolate Rannoch Moor to reach haunting Glen Coe, the 'Glen of Weeping'. In 1692 40 of the resident MacDonald clan were massacred in cold blood by the Campbells for not forswearing the Jacobite cause. It is said that you can still hear their cries! We'll make a stop in this awe-inspiring place so that you can marvel at the natural beauty of the glen for yourself.
Next we travel to Fort William, where we’ll make a stop for lunch. More breathtaking scenery awaits us as we enter the Great Glen. Be first to spot mighty Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain!
We follow the route of the famous Caledonian Canal which ingeniously incorporates the three lochs that make the Great Glen so special - firstly Loch Lochy then Loch Oich and lastly mysterious Loch Ness. The pretty little village of Fort Augustus is our gateway to Scotland’s largest and most famous loch. We will tour the entire length of Loch Ness, stopping at Urquhart Castle for a photograph. Here you can enjoy an optional visit the Castle and enjoy a cruise on the loch - could that shadow be the monster?
At Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands, we turn southwards for home. Our journey continues through the picturesque Spey Valley before crossing the Grampian Mountains to reach Perthshire and the Forest of Atholl. We make a final stop for afternoon tea before making the final part of our journey to Glasgow.
