Customer Reviews of Four Winds, nr Thurso - Sleeps 3

st comment: The welcome we got was warm and friendly, everything was explained to us and a pint of milk for our first cup of tea was waiting in the fridge. The views from the ’dining room’ were stunning, the location was very quiet but not isolated, just perfect! Great walks for the dog from the door! And plenty of dog waste bins on the way! April 2012.

nd comment: This cottage is like ’a home from home’. Immaculate, very cosy, in a beautiful location, and the owners are very friendly and helpful people. Would recommend. Sept 2011.

rd comment: Owners very particular that visitors should enjoy their stay. Very kind and helpful. Aug 2011.

th comment: 1st class accommodation. 1st class welcome and advice about the area. Wanted for nothing from the accommodation or the owners. Local pub was quiet but very friendly. Expect a wave and hello from people you’ve never met before. Dont think much of John O Groats but go further to see the stacks of Duncansby and you wont be disappointed. Little Fish n chip shop near the river in Thurso will give you the best fish supper you’ve had in a long time. 1st class place to spend a quiet holiday in any weather, ours was sunny all the way... Well done to John and Bev. July 2011.

th comment: Loved everything about our holiday. Great location, property and owners. Made us very welcome, enjoyed watching puffins and our various trips - particularly the Orkney trip. We need to go back. June 2011.

th comment: Great location. Could look over the sea whilst eating. Excellent accommodation. June 2011.

th comment: Superbly equipped. Excellent gas cooker. Everything worked beautifully. Ideal for touring north coast. Did a day trip to Orkney islands from John O’ Groats. May 2011.

th comment: This was a lovely cottage and would not hesitate in recommending it. The location was wonderful, lovely views out to sea and self contained and private. There was just the two of us and was perfect for our requirements, the cottage was well supplied. The ’welcome pack’-bottle of wine milk etc was appreciated. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Easy parking attached to property. A classic north highland cottage. There was an open fire and all modern amenities. April 2011.

th comment: Excellent location for touring the area. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Views were spectacular. Would recommend to others. April 2011.

th comment: The sea views from the property were uplifting. Oct 2010.

th Comment Perfect holiday cottage with every need catered for. Little extras like milk in the fridge, tea, sugar and sachets of coffee, chocolate and horlicks. In the bathroom shower gel and bath foam and boxes of tissues in all the rooms. All you needed to take was your food. The location was wonderful and the garden and views were a delight. Sept 2010.

th Comment Nice location, good accommodation. Friendly and helpful owners. Aug 2010.

But in 1829, Tongue House and the majority of the Mackay Estate had to be sold to pay off debts owing to the Sutherland family.
