In a superb secluded position right on the banks of Loch Tay, this lovely spacious holiday property has a large garden flanked by burns as well as its own 150 yards of loch frontage, where free fishing is available. Stylishly furnished within, it offers all modern facilities in an unrivalled setting, ideal for family groups or couples wishing to enjoy this beautiful area. Loch Tay itself is the largest loch in Perthshire, with a shingle beach at Kenmore at the east end offering stunning views down the length of the loch. Water sports, clay pigeon shooting and pleasure cruises are available from the Croft na Caber Centre (a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water), which is well worth a visit. The Tay is one of the finest angling rivers with Kenmore hosting a traditional ceremony each January to mark the opening of the salmon season. Ample walking and climbing opportunities are available in the area - for the energetic, Ben Lawers (Perthshire’s highest mountain) can be attempted. The nearby village of Fearnan sits at one end of the Tummel Forest Park and leads to Fortingall, home of the oldest living thing in Europe, the Fortingall Yew. At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon, the longest in Scotland. Aberfeldy (approx 12 miles) has a good choice of shops and restaurants and has a sports centre and indoor swimming-pool. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, quad biking, bird-watching and cycling. Shop 3 miles.

Customer Reviews of The Anchorage, Aberfeldy, sleeps 8

st comment: Superb accommodation with spectacular views. I would recommend to those who enjoy the outdoors this place is fantastic with great walks, fishing and bird watching we even saw an Osprey. I will certainly return as many times as I can. April 2012.

nd comment: The property setting was spectacular (helped a little by the weather), reclusive and truly relaxing...would recommend it to anyone, not just fishermen. Fixtures, fittings all more than adequate though (and perhaps this was the wine being sloshed down) the oven seemed to take an age to cook the chicken! Small gripe. Overall, fantastic! April 2011.

rd comment: The location was wonderful, views to die for. Oct 2009.

th comment: Nice accommodation. Quite basic in decor and fittings. Aug 2009.

th comment: Its location, generous grounds and large public rooms. July 2009.

th comment: Lovely location. Oct 2008.

th comment: What a excellent house this was, home from home, child friendly and a beautiful location. Relaxing time had by all. Although a few things were shut because it was winter, we still had a great time sightseeing and the weather was sunny everyday. Will be back again, in a different season. Dec 2008.

th comment: The cottage was wonderful. It is in a secluded position with fantastic views of Loch Tay. So peaceful. I want to live there! Can’t wait to return. Feb 2008.
